Central Minnesota Warrior To Citizen Initiative -
Annual Education Conference
Clergy Forum

Since 9/11/01, the Minnesota National Guard has mobilized more than 11,000 soldiers and airmen. These Guard members, and other veterans, have served their country admirably. We thank them and their families for the sacrifices they have made. Those who served in combat have undergone a life-defining experience. While some veterans will need support as they process their experiences and make a successful transition from “warrior” to “citizen,” the vast majority return to us stronger, more confident, and more inspired than when they left.

They have acquired new skills and valuable experience that can benefit our communities. Convened by the Center for Democracy and Citizenship at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey Institute, a statewide coalition of individuals and organizations has formed the Warrior to Citizen Campaign.

The purpose of this grassroots effort is simple: to challenge Minnesotans to think actively and creatively about how returning veterans can contribute their skills and insight to our organizations, businesses, schools, local governments and communities—as citizens.
